So Gran Turismo PSP.
The online reviews ain't great at all but here's my little addition to those reviews.

The biggest fault in the game and the reason for the low scores is the lack of the Career Mode. It is surely missed but the game does have progression for self-fulfilment (not identified by reviews).

So the game has 800 cars and one of the ways of progression is being limited to 4 car dealers per day and a limited selection of cars from those dealers. This is both sucky for the player and awesome at the same time because it encourages you to continue racing in order to get a chance to buy the car you want. (Aka...me and that elusive Corvette C5R, came up twice in the dealership and both times I didn't have enough money because I just bought something before :|)
Note a day in the game is basically a race, so you dont need to wait til real life tomorrow.

Another progression point in the game is the challenges. 54 challenges of increasing dificulty... Stuck at #44 myself. These test how well you can take a corner, overtake a car (WITHOUT hitting the other car, wall or driving off the road.) Frustrating but rewarding when you actually complete it (in terms of self accomplishment lol).

Every challenge, and race awards you with money to buy your cars.

The main progression aspect of the game are the courses.
Now the game has a difficulty setting for each track (35 i believe) ranging from "D-rank to S-rank" (D-C-B-A-S). The game charts how much you race on each rank level and eventually you move up to S-rank.. Beat S-Rank and you feel accomplished as you have "Aced" that track. Moving through the ranks also awards you much more money. So once you get to S-rank on a course you can abuse that race over and over to acquire the money for the 5million dollar car you want.

Another BIG feature in the game is in-game music. The game streams music off of your memory stick which makes the races alot more fun while you jam to your tunes.

I was pretty dissapointed that the game didn't have online play but what the hell.
The big deal is that ALL cars acquired in GTPSP will be transferrable to Gran Turismo 5 on PS3. So when you guys driving your Lancer or your Honda Fit on launch day, I'll be speeding past you with my Bugatti Veyron 16.4 '09. (Best car ever!) i.e. if they let you choose what ever car you want to race with online  .

...and one of the ways of progression is being limited to 4 car dealers per day and a limited selection of cars from those dealers. This is both sucky for the player and awesome at the same time because it encourages you to continue racing in order to get a chance to buy the car you want.

It also avoids the practice of people buying out the highest-performance vehicles and whopping through the game and/or connected play. At first I thought that this feature was crappy because I was thinking of what I want, but then it wouldn't seem fair that GT freaks would just rack up some credits and buy the best car. Then the whole idea of Gran Turismo and customisation would be lost. Everybody would buy the best, then tune it. That would mean that Polyphony Digital wasted time/money adding the remaining 700 cars. That's not fair to the community, to GT, to Polyphony Digital and to the cars' manufacturers. So this is why I strongly support this random car-dealer per day feature (at least for this game).

Well, I might as well state it: Mitsubishi GTO Twin Turbo has always been my choice since GT for PSone. Of course it had its changes (FTO, GT 3000 etc), I just hope that they put whatever model in GT5.

The interesting thing about this game is that if you buy say, the best car in the game, when you race, the game puts you against cars of its class no matter what.
So a race with that aforementioned Bugatti Veyron...there's only one other car that could reach the speeds it can so the races consist of either 4 Bugatti's, 3 of the other, 2 Bugatti's and 2 of the other. So in essence you don't fly through the game as the difficulty is there and as you increase in the track tiers (S difficulty), races are extremely challenging.
And its an interesting decision to do that, because now the player tries to mix things up by buying different cars for variety. Gran Turismo PSP just works for me and I'm glad Polyphony Digital made it the way it is.

I've seen someone play this game for endless hours, and does the same track over and over just to get money :P
