PS3 Not Reading ANY Discs

Postby stacichu » Tue Feb 09, 2010 9:21 pm

Successfully did a MW2 update and at the end of one game, the screen went blank and froze. Being unable to turn off the PS3 normally, switched off the power at the back of the console. Now it isn't reading any discs - music or movies - at all.

Reformatted the hard-drive and that didn't work. The loading symbol at the top right shows, but I don't hear or feel the disc spinning inside the PS3. Plus, the disc comes back out the same way I put it in.

So I've narrowed the problem down to either the motor that spins the disc, or the diode lens.

What are the reputable places to send it in to fix? Heard mixed reviews of JK Entertainment and Zero Media.

Thanks!

I don't know how many other places there are (there might be alot now) but JK seems to be more popular from what I've heard over the years. I remember getting my PSone fixed there a long time ago. They did a good job. But I don't know for sure how reliable JK or any other place really is.

I believe RealPCs in Gulf City Mall does PS3 fixes. You can also check Entertainment Haven in High Street San Fernando. Or JK might be just fine.

I guess you'd need someone else's recommendations before you decide.
But remember to weigh the cost of fixing the PS3 with the cost of a brand new one (slim?) and make the most rational choice.
Good luck and I hope your PS3's up soon. :)

I got the new slim model recently :) It's minor to me now and I'm in no rush, but the old one is just there doing nothing so I'd still like to fix. Still haven't heard any real reviews of any of the places.. Just moreorless what other people heard. JK Ent sounds like it so far.

Recently found out that Circuitzone (the main branch by the Advanced Commercial Equipment building) fixes it. I am going to carry mines there.
